Clairaudience is a psychic ability that you don’t hear much about. That’s because, for the most part, clairaudience is a very rare ability. In general, psychic abilities are talents that can allow one to penetrate a common description of our reality. In other words, for example, we’re told that time moves from the past to the future. But for those who can see beyond those limitations, then that person may be able to perceive the future. Those people are called clairvoyant. Clairvoyant is a combination of two French words (‘clare’ and ‘voyance’) meaning “clear vision”.
However, there are some who can perceive things from the future through the use of their other senses. In this case, clairaudience is the ability to clearly hear something that pertains to the future. This is not some otherworldly occurrence relegated to those who stare into crystal balls and charge by the palm reading. Like clairvoyance, this is related to the well-known scientific hypothesis that time, as we normally experience it, is an illusion. As such, there are those who have the ability to understand things outside our common perception of time. Like a prodigy who can write complex music at a very young age – with no musical lessons. They just “see” the notes in their mind.
The source of these heard vocal indications are a subject of debate. Just like with most metaphysical occurrences, a lack of direct knowledge can lead to a lot of speculation. Usually, these speculations are based on one’s belief system. For example, imagine if an electronic music player somehow made its way back to the 1600s. Where would the people think the music is coming from? A group of tiny people inside the device? The music of the angels (think opera)? The music of demons (think heavy metal rock)?
Where is the sound coming from?
It’s the same with us, in these ‘modern’ times. Some folks believe that the voices come from the spirit world. Some believe that spirit guides are assisting us and all we need to do is learn how to hear them. While it’s not the intention of this article to debate this particular question, one thing is for sure. There are people who experience this phenomena and it isn’t related to any psychological disorder. This is determined by the frequency and accuracy of what has been reported and verified. So, what are the signs that you, or someone you know, might possess this ability? Let’s take a look.
Hearing someone talking softly in the background
If you know that you are alone, but are hearing audible talking in the background, this may be a sign. In this particular instance, you will want to do your best in order to determine what is being said. This is the most important qualifier. If you are unable to make out any particular message, then you can’t know if this is true clairaudience. It may be a sound that is coming from a difference source. This is why it can be so important for you to learn how to quiet your mind and focus.
Hearing words that stand out from other noise which pertains to you
You may be in a crowded environment and suddenly you hear someone say something highly specific regarding your situation. You may be hearing the solution to a current problem. Or you may be hearing the details of a specific situation that soon comes about. If you can’t quite determine the source of the words, this can be very important. Learning how to regularly use these bits of “heard wisdom” can be extremely advantageous.
Other ways that this can affect you, is by suddenly hearing specific details from a radio program or television broadcast. These details will outline a situation that you are currently in and provide a solution to a problem.
You are sensitive to sudden noises or loud conversations
One of the attributes of a person who may be clairaudient is a heightened sensitivity to sound. Because of this, sudden noises or loud environments are irritating to those who have this ability. If you tend to feel drained when you’re around loud people, this can be a sign of clairaudience.
You tend to hear voices in your thoughts that give helpful advice
This is not to be confused with just thinking about a situation and coming up with an answer. This is a communication that “feels” as if it was coming from the “outside” – but is always benevolent. It is as if you (or someone else) were providing you with a solution to a problematic situation. It’s an odd sensation in which a helpful point is suddenly related to you. But it’s made the moment you stop thinking about the problem. The difference, here, is that it doesn’t come across as a regular thought out answer to a situation. It’s as if an actual full sentence was heard from ‘outside’ yourself and injected into your thoughts.
These are some of the signs that can indicate clairaudience. If this feels like something that you have the talent for, then try it out. Learn to act upon the information that you’re hearing and observe the results. It could be well worth your while!
