In Zen Buddhism, the “monkey mind” is a metaphor for our mind’s tendency to flit from thought to thought or to follow unhealthy or childish thoughts to often unintended outcomes. Spirit speaks to each one of us in a still-small-voice that can be lost in a cluttered mind made more so by a hectic world. Your ability to quiet the mind’s chatter is critical to your psychic (and spiritual) development.
